Few social problems are as visible as homelessness. At one time, it was invisible and easily ignored. Now homelessness is a common sight in cities, suburbs, and even some rural areas. There are men, women, and children who roam the streets carrying what is left of their possessions in shopping bags or grocery carts, curled up on benches, in stairwells, or under bridges.
